Chelus fimbriata

More commonly known as the Matamata Turtle (which means "kill-kill", amazing right?), this species of turtle is native to Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, and Suriname. This species is the type species for the Chelus genus. In other words, this genus is directly linked to this species of turtle, so, if there are any revisions, the genus will stay constant with this species. Later I will add their SCL, synonymy, holotype, type location, IUCN listing, and images!

Also, this is my favorite species of turtle, so you can be sure I'll come back to it!
