Elseya (Pelocomastes) uberrima

More commonly known as its scientific name, this species of turtle is extinct. This species is the type species for the Elseya (Pelocomastes) Subgenus. In other words, this Subgenus is directly linked to this species of turtle, so, if there are any revisions, the Subgenus will stay constant with this species. This is a little confusing though, because most checklists of turtle species omit this species. However, the Subgenus Pelocomastes was revived by Thompson et al. in 2015 without giving a new Type Species. Therefore, the type species used is the same as De Vis et al. gave in 1897. I can not find any relevant information refuting or confirming this species in any recent media. Therefore, I tentatively add it to this list. Later I will add their SCL, synonymy, holotype, type location, IUCN listing, and images! If you have any further information regarding this species, message me @chelonian on Discord.
